Find A Lawyer

How to find a lawyer that’s right for your case.

Finding the right lawyer can be a confusing process. Here are some tips that you can use to make sure you find a lawyer that is reputable and will handle your case ethically and professionally.

  1. Find out what type of lawyer you need. Now this may sound pretty straight forward but some cases require a unique type of lawyer. For example, you may need a lawyer for a divorce. Most people automatically assume you need to hire a family lawyer that charges by the hour, but the fact of the matter is that there are lawyers who specialize in ‘uncontested divorces’ which charge a flat fee for the same service. If you are unsure of what type of lawyer is needed for your case, fill out the ‘help me find a lawyer’ form we’ll help you find the right lawyer.
  2. Contact more than one lawyer. This is very important, don’t feel obligated to retain the first lawyer you meet. Contact three to four different lawyers and get a feel for them. Ask them questions like: how long have you been practicing law? Have you ever dealt with this type of matter before? If so, what was the outcome? How do you structure your fees? How much will I be charged exactly?
  3. Retain a lawyer you feel comfortable with. If you don’t feel comfortable in the initial consultation, chances are you are not going to be happy down the road.
